Bounce out the Stigma…

So last weekend the Delaware Jaycees called me again and asked me to shoot one of thier community projects. They were bringing a basketball camp called \”Bounce out the Stigma\” to Delaware for kids with attention, emotional and other difficulites.

Mike \”Mighty Mike\” Simmel started the camp after spending many years as a member of the Harlem Wizards, a traveling basketball show. At age 2 he was diagnosed with epilepsey, and playing basketball helped him get over his issues. When he was 16 he had an episode at a basketball camp, and the camp wanted to send him home. His parents fought for him to stay at the camp, but the incident stuck with him, and swore he\’d didn\’t want another kid to have a similar experience he did.

Recently i picked up a new Alienbees 800 that would allow me to light large areas like the gym.  I lucked out with the PAL and was allowed to put it up in an upstairs balcony, so it would light most of the gym.  Dealing with some kids, and an instructor, who have issues with bright flashing lights, I to use it sparingly.

The camp was a success and the Jaycees are already planning another sometime next year.
